The IMPLICIT Network has historically stood for: Interventions to Minimize Preterm and Low Birthweight Infants through Continuous Improvement Techniques. This accurately described the early work of the Network, which focused primarily on reducing instances of preterm and low birthweight infants through the Interconception Care model. In recent years, the work of the Network has expanded to include the 4th Trimester Care model, which focuses on redefining postpartum care. To better capture the multifaceted work of the IMPLICIT Network, we have update our acronym to be:

Dyadic care aims to treat both the baby and their Dyadic care aims to treat both the baby and their parent/caregiver, supporting healthy child and family development.

IMPLICIT Network sites practice dyadic care by screening mothers/birthing people at their child's Well Child Visits using the IMPLICIT Interconception Care (ICC) model.

A healthy mom/birthing person means a healthy baby and a healthy family!

Did you know 1 in 5 mothers/birthing people experience a perinatal mood and/or anxiety disorder? 

The perinatal period is an ever changing time that can bring many emotions. This month helps raise awareness of maternal mental health conditions, reduce stigma, and highlight the resources and support available for all mothers and birthing people.

Meet our Leadership Council - today we’re highligh Meet our Leadership Council - today we’re highlighting Dr. Sarah Jones!

Dr. Sarah Jones earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in 2009 and completed her Pediatrics residency there in 2012. From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Jones practiced general pediatrics in the community before returning to UMMC to establish the Complex Care Clinic. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Complex Care Clinic and as the Medicine Medical Director for the Spina Bifida Clinic, while continuing to practice both complex care and general pediatrics. Since 2016, Dr. Jones has been actively involved with IMPLICIT, serving on the Leadership Council since 2021 and contributing as a member of the Data Review Committee. Her work is driven by a strong commitment to improving maternal and birthing-person health—as well as family well-being—within the pediatric setting, both in clinical practice and through policy advocacy.

The IMPLICIT Network participated in the March of The IMPLICIT Network participated in the March of Dimes, March for Babies Greater Philadelphia event on April 18th, 2026. 

The March for Babies is a national event held every Spring in cities across the country to raise awareness and funds to support addressing the maternal and infant health crisis in this country. 

The IMPLICIT Network’s mission aligns closely with the work of the March of Dimes to address this crisis and improve maternal health and birth outcomes for all.
